RIGHT OF PASSAGE

eXplore

The camp on the border to the fictitious Loeric Republic is growing. Refugees from many different religions and countries come with the hope for a better and more secure life in the Republic – but only very few meet the strict entry requirements. As the political situation threatens to become destabilized, the Loeric Republic intensifies its entry requirements further. The camp is growing into an autonomous sociotope, whose existence is unwanted by all political parties. The continuity of the camp is on the line, the pressure on its inhabitants is increased. Who won’t make it over the border soon is in danger of getting lost in the power play of the nations and deported as an illegal immigrant.

The status of this transitory, crookedly grown place, the fight for the “right” papers and the stories of the people in it constitute the threefold narrative in »Right of Passage«, which pivots on the feeling of traveling without moving, while the opportunity to reverse fades into the distance.

RIGHT OF PASSAGE is a performance-game about refugees, asylum and bureaucracy as an act of exclusion. Set in a transit camp on the fictitious border between Pradea and the Loeric Republic is tells about the state of a preliminary place, the struggle of getting papers and the stories of the people within.
