Free open-source software for the collaborative development of interactive theater experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

adaptor:ex connects and visualizes elements of interactive performance, theater games, installations, chatbot adventures, or escape rooms. The graphic programming interface is optimized to bring together elements of dramaturgy and game mechanics and arrange them in a clear way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

adaptor:ex was primarily developed in 2021 and 2022 within the framework of machina commons<\/a>, funded by the Berlin Senate Department of Culture and Europe. Building on this initial development period, the software has been continuously enhanced. The design is based on machina eX\u2019s many years of experience developing a wide variety of game theater formats. Many smaller, more specific prototypes from past productions form the basis for this accessible and extensive software project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The software is free and open source<\/a> and can be installed on individual computers or on a server. Thorough documentation<\/a> simplifies the installation process and offers users a practical introduction via tutorials, describing the individual functions and plug-ins in detail. Users can also pose questions, give feedback, and contribute to the future development of the software on the machina commons Discord Channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

adaptor:ex allows for quick adjustments during rehearsals. Users can also monitor and control the flow during tests and performances. The editor is accessible via the browser and it\u2019s possible for several people to edit the same game. Plug-ins expand the possibilities of the adaptor:ex setup. This way, a wide range of software interfaces and devices can be interconnected in a game or story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
