A comprehensive collection of materials that enables users to recreate the machina-eX classic 15,000 Gray\u2014available online as an open-source project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can you document a game theater play? Is it possible to produce a guide for recreating a live interactive performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a two-week research stint at the FFT D\u00fcsseldorf, machina eX set a goal to develop some systematic documentation for its most popular game\u2014maybe just for the archives, but maybe also for a new production by a state-sponsored theater or school theater group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is a website both extensive and incomplete that also showcases the project\u2019s challenges. There are descriptions, as detailed as possible, of all the elements of the theater game 15.000 Gray<\/em>. In the spirit of the project motto Give It Away!<\/em> the website is an open-source project available to everyone free of charge. Among other elements, the DIY Kit<\/em><\/a> contains a complete script, stage directions, and instructions for rebuilding technical equipment. A combination of an archive, a coding tutorial, and a director\u2019s script that\u2019s designed to inspire (re)makes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
