A multimedia board game with live performance elements
In Germany It happens on average every fortnight: a handful of blackmailers gain access to a council through the back door and take over the computers, sometimes leaving the authorities incapable of operating for months. In recent times, such perpetrators have become more professional, offering “cybercrime as a service”.
“Intranet” is a game about networking and solidarity when critical situations arise. In its new production, Berlin game theatre collective machina eX combine multimedia board game, interactive audio drama, and live performance to explore the growing threat of cyberattacks on democratic institutions. Roleplaying as the editorial team of a fictitious local newspaper, the audience play their way through a story in which a community fights back against an attack on its networks. Will the players succeed in defeating the cyber criminals through research, revelations, and co-operation?
